Many times a person will suffer from stomach and back pain at the same time. There are many conditions that may cause these feelings. Some of these problems may be serious and life threatening. Pancreatitis

Aortic Aneurysm

An aortic aneurysm occurs when a part of the aorta gets weak and begins to bulge. Since the aorta is the biggest artery in the body, rupture can lead to fatal bleeding. This type of aneurysm is usually uncovered upon examination of some other problem.

Symptoms of aortic aneurysm include:

  • fast heart rate

  • rapid breathing
  • pulsating bulge in the abdomen
  • nausea

A person will need to make lifestyle changes like eating healthier, exercising regularly, and quitting smoking and drinking excess amounts of alcohol.

Tumors

Tumors can grow anywhere in the body. If they occur in the abdomen and grow to a large size, they may place pressure on different organs and lead to pain in the abdominal region and back. A doctor will usually treat tumors with radiation, chemotherapy, and other surgical procedures.

Damaged Nerves

When a person has degenerative bone disease or has suffered from trauma due to nerve compression, nerve damage may be the cause of a mixture of back and stomach pain. A person with nerve damage may feel a sharp pain in the stomach and back. This type of damage may not be able to be totally cured. However there are treatments available to lower pain. A doctor may prescribe pain medication or recommend physical therapy or surgery to relieve compression. Many people seek a more natural alternative treatment including acupuncture, biofeedback, and meditation.

Back pain is a common complaint for many people. It can be quite annoying and lead to much discomfort. It may hamper a person’s ability to go about day to day activities.
